An Ordinary Age by Rainesford Stauffer is such a beautiful, thoughtful book about the expectations placed on young adults in today's world. As a young adult myself I found this book so relatable, on point, and comforting. It was so great to read about other people going through similar experiences to my own and to read about the types of privileges that help some get ahead more than others in certain areas.
Currently reading Disability Visibility, a collection of essays edited by Alice Wong and really appreciating it so far. So much diversity and representation. More thoughts on this one soon, but I'm definitely enjoying it.
So many books, so little time! These are a few of the books I'm hoping to work my way through in the coming month or so, some of which I've posted about before.
Reading is such a large part of who I am. I've met all types of people, traveled to new places, and learned so much more about myself because of the books I've read.
I'm pretty sure I'll finish reading An Ordinary Age by Rainesford Stauffer today, and I just want to say that I've absolutely enjoyed reading it so far! It's been such a comforting, relatable book, and I'm so glad she wrote it. Full review coming soon, but just a heads up that this is a good one.
The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta is a coming of age story about a biracial boy as he explores his sexuality and identity from childhood through young adulthood. The story is told in verse from a first person perspective. The friendships the main character formed were beautiful, vulnerable, and sometimes difficult. I appreciated the words, characters, and story.
