How to Actually Wear Everything in Your Wardrobe

It can be difficult some days to figure out what to wear. If you’re like me, you probably have a few go-to outfits. But then you might also notice that there are some pieces of clothing you’re not wearing very frequently. So here are some tips that should help you make sure you’re getting some use out of everything in your closet.

Get rid of anything that doesn’t fit. Sometimes we don’t even realize when something doesn’t fit anymore because we just stop wearing it. So go through your closet and figure out what clothes you own that aren’t in your size.

Get rid of anything that you’re not comfortable actually wearing. You know that outfit you bought that wasn’t really your style but looked cute on the mannequin? And you thought maybe it could be a look that you pulled off, but then you never wore it because it was never the right moment or you didn’t have something to wear with it. Get rid of any pieces of clothing like that you might own. Just because those pieces aren’t your style doesn’t mean someone else won’t like them.

Get rid of anything that isn’t appropriate to your lifestyle. Do you spend most of your week in business casual clothing? You probably don’t need ten pairs of sweats or twenty t-shirts if that’s the case. Cut down on the amount of clothing you have that you seldom wear anyway.

Organize items by their color. Organize your shirts, dresses, skirts, etc. by color so it’s easier to find what you’re looking for. This system will also help you notice if there’s more you could

Organize items in such a way that you can see them clearly. Whether you’re folding or hanging clothes, do so in a way that makes everything as visible as possible. When folding, that’s why it’s better to place items vertically. It helps to put the same types of pieces of clothing together. Keep your dresses together, your skirts next to each other, and whatever else you’re hanging up or folding.

Only bring in new clothing that works with what you already own. If you mostly wear blues and grays, don’t buy a yellow shirt thinking you’ll be able to figure out an outfit. Stick to the style you’re naturally drawn to. And hopefully, if most of your clothes is within a certain color scheme you’ll be able to mix and match even more often than you think.
