Spring is just around the corner, and this often means that people are feeling motivated about decluttering and cleaning up their living spaces. So here are some tips to help you get started.
Make a list of what you hope to achieve while you’re deep cleaning. Do you hope to have a consistently cleaner house? Do you want to get rid of items you don’t use anymore? Do you want to downsize your items? Write down your goals so you know your purpose and goals in doing this.
Create a game plan. You don’t need to get it all done in one day. In fact, you likely won’t want to. So instead, choose a set of days when you can set aside a few hours to clean specific rooms. Write it down so you don’t forget and so you make it clear you’re committed to those days.
Figure out where you’ll take what you’re getting rid of. Are you donating to a local thrift store? Trying to give stuff to friends and family? Make a decision about what you’ll do with what you’re getting rid of. You can set up boxes for items you want to recycle, donate, sell, or pass along to friends and family. Also keep a trash can nearby for items that don’t fit into any of those categories. Make sure you have a plan for where you’ll be donating if that’s part of your plan.
These are just a few tips to help you get started with a deep cleaning project. Of course, I do have more tips on the subjects of cleaning and decluttering as well, so make sure to check those posts out as well. How do you prepare for spring cleaning?
