How to Keep a Clean Living Space

It can be difficult sometimes to end up with a cluttered, unorganized space. It’s easy to let things get out of control, and it’s easy for a space to become cluttered. I’ve gotten really good about keeping a clean bedroom, so I’ve decided to share some tips and tricks with you.

Keep items off of surfaces as much as possible. It can be easy to let stuff pile up, but instead do your best to find an exact spot for everything. Keep your system simple so it’s easy to put things back where they belong.

While you’re cleaning and getting yourself reorganized, get rid of any items that you no longer use or have a need for. If you find that you can’t comfortably fit everything in your space, do some experiments to figure out what you do or don’t actually use. It helps to go through drawers or storage spaces you don’t typically pay that much attention to.

It helps if you know where everything is supposed to go. Figure out some sort of system for putting things away. Choose a place to store electronics, candles, or whatever sorts of items tend to end up lying around.

After you’ve figured out your system and figure out a home for all of your items, make sure you keep up with that system. Put items away after you’re done using them. This will save you time later on because you won’t have to deal with clearing off a bunch of stuff at the exact same time. If you do this, your room should look pretty consistently clean.

This last tip is particularly helpful if you live in a pretty small space. Use vertical space to your advantage. Command hooks are great, for example. The smaller ones can be a great way to hang up your jewelry in a clean and visible way. I’ve created some frames that I use to store all of my hair clips. I like using walls to hold onto things like that because they’re usually more visible that way. I would probably forget which clips I owned if I placed them all in a drawer or box. This reminds me of what I own and allows me to find what I want quickly.

Try implementing these changes slowly or over the course of just a day to a week. Whichever way you decide to go about it, let me know what did or didn’t work for you. If you have any other tips about keeping a clean space, I’d love to hear about them. Feel free to leave those in the comments below.
